International conference “Korea exploring the world: global and local challenges of the late nineteenth – mid-twentieth century”

The late nineteenth – mid-twentieth century was a turning point for the political, social, cultural, and other systems of the Korean peninsula.  At that time, Korea crossed the boundaries of its traditionally formed civilizational limits and started to explore the world outside of Northeast Asia.

The Conference is aiming to shed a light on this dramatic transitional phase of Korean history. Its organizing committee is aiming to provide a platform for in-depth academic and scientific exchanges between specialists majoring in the Northeast Asian region. Therefore, we will welcome presentations focusing on Korea’s history, politics, economy, and culture of the above-mentioned period.

Two workshop sessions, focusing (1) on problems of teaching theoretical disciplines in Korean studies and (2) challenges of teaching the Korean language in a new educational context will be held as a part of the conference to develop recommendations for improving the effectiveness of student learning and interdisciplinary consistency of curricula.

Selected presentations will be recommended for publication in the conference proceedings.
