Every year on the 1st day of the 1st month of the lunar calendar, East Asia celebrates the New Year. In 2025, the New Year will begin on January 29, when the dragon will be replaced by a snake.

The School of Oriental Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, the HSE Department of Internationalisation, the HSE Chinese Club, the HSE Musubi Japanese Club, and the HSE Hallyan Korean Club invite you to take part in the celebration of the arrival of spring on February 1st at 1:30 p.m.

The Eastern New Year program includes:

  • interesting master classes that broadly represent the various traditions and customs of China, Korea, Japan, and some Southeast Asian countries;
  • fun games for children and adults;
  • participation in a tea ceremony;
  • introduction to the art of Chinese, Korean and Japanese calligraphy;
  • a festive concert and much more.

The event will take place at the Pokrovsky blvd, 11, building 6, HSE Cultural Center.

Registration for the event is mandatory, as the number of seats in the concert hall is limited. The registration deadline is January 28, 21:00.

The event is held with the financial support of the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, the HSE Department of Internationalisation and organizational support of the International Creative Center "Applicant. Student. Graduate" of the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.
