The summer language school for students of the “Asian and African Studies” program of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at Jilin University of Foreign Languages (JUFL) was held August 6-26. The students immersed themselves in learning the basics of the Chinese language, as well as spent several days in the Russian-Chinese border area, visited the sacred mountain Paektusan (Chinese: Changbaishan) on the border of the PRC and the DPRK and the Jingyuetan National Park Reserve.

The Russia team, represented by the students of the Asian and African Studies program, took part in the international championship in Arabic “Qatar Debate” in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

On December 13, the team of the project “Dialogues about the East” held the fourth lecture of the series on the culture of India with Sofia Karanjia about Indian clothes and textiles.

Ekaterina Kozlova, a 5th-year student of the ‘Asian Studies’ educational program, became a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder and went to study in Hungary. Ekaterina tells about her impressions in this article.

The team of the student project «Dialogues about the East» has launched a new season of the podcast in partnership with the State Oriental Museum. The topic of the first issue was Japanese animation or anime

Ekaterina Kozlova, a 4th year student of the program “Asian Studies”, presented her project “Dialogues about the East”  at the Eurasia Global Forum, which took place from June 8 to 14 in Orenburg

On March 18, the team of the project “Dialogues about the East” held the first open meeting this year with A. Fursov – a famous historian, social scientist, academician of the International Academy of Sciences. This event was devoted to evaluating the role of oriental studies and history in the system of social sciences.

Nikita Ganzha, student of the Middle East section of the HSE School of Asian Studies, told about his internship at the Trade Representation of Russia in Cairo.
