On March 15th a seminar entitled ‘On the Twists of the Modernity’ took place at the HSE, where Yossi Tavor, First Secretary of the Embassy of Israel in Russia, read a lecture for the students of the HSE Faculty of Philosophy School of Asian Studies.
This year
the recently created HSE School of Asian Studies will begin accepting the first
entrants to its undergraduate programme. Aleksey Maslov, Head of the School,
told us how to train Orientalists the right way and what examinations these
students will have to pass.

the Samuel P.
Huntington Memorial Symposium on Culture, Cultural Change and
Economic Development took place at the HSE. It was organized by the
Cultural
Change Institute (the Fletcher School, Tufts University, USA) and the
Higher
School of Economics. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met with the
Symposium participants.
